Daniel J. McCann, Esq.

Experienced Counsel. Sound Judgment. Trusted Representation.

Real Estate • Land Use • Business • Municipal Law

Daniel J. McCann, Esq. represents property owners, investors, business owners, executives, developers, and individuals in significant real estate, land use, business, and municipal matters throughout South Jersey.

As the founder of Daniel J. McCann, L.L.C., Mr. McCann combines sophisticated private-practice experience with an extensive background in municipal government, land use, corporate counsel, and professional leadership. His approach is straightforward: understand the client's objectives, anticipate issues before they become problems, provide candid advice, and handle every matter with the professionalism, discretion, and attention it deserves.

Deep Roots. Broad Experience.

Mr. McCann's connection to Cape May County is both professional and personal.

A native of Sea Isle City, he grew up in the community he continues to serve today. Throughout high school and college, he worked as a Sea Isle City beach lifeguard, an experience that helped instill the discipline, responsibility, and commitment to service that have remained central throughout his career.

He later served as a member of the Sea Isle City Planning Board, providing him with early firsthand experience in the land use and development issues that shape New Jersey's coastal communities.

Today, Mr. McCann serves as Public Defender for the Sea Isle City and Dennis Township Municipal Courts, continuing a relationship with his hometown and Cape May County that has spanned much of his life.

Real Estate, Land Use & Business Counsel

Mr. McCann founded Daniel J. McCann, L.L.C. in 2014 and has developed a practice focused on matters in which legal experience, practical judgment, and responsiveness are essential.

His real estate practice encompasses residential and commercial transactions and related property matters. His experience representing private clients, coupled with his work on behalf of New Jersey municipalities and land use boards, gives him a valuable perspective when advising property owners, investors, businesses, and developers.

Mr. McCann currently serves as Land Use Board Solicitor to two New Jersey municipalities. Over the course of his career, he has also served as an Alternate City Solicitor, Alternate Public Defender, and Alternate Land Use Board Solicitor in New Jersey communities.

This experience provides him with an understanding not only of the law, but also of how municipal government, land use boards, professionals, property owners, businesses, and communities interact in practice.

Mr. McCann also serves as General Counsel to a major corporation, advising on legal and business matters and bringing the perspective of outside counsel, business adviser, and corporate counsel to his representation of private clients.

Leadership in the Legal Profession

Mr. McCann's peers have repeatedly entrusted him with positions of responsibility within the Cape May County legal community.

He is a former President of the Cape May County Bar Association and currently serves as Chair of the Cape May County Judicial and Prosecutorial Appointments Committee (JPAC).

His service to the profession and community has also been recognized with the 2018 Judge Gibson & Judge Batten Spirit of the Community Award and the 2019 Cape May County Bar Association Young Lawyer of the Year Award.

These positions and honors reflect a professional philosophy Mr. McCann brings to every representation: an attorney's reputation is earned through preparation, integrity, professionalism, sound judgment, and service to others.

Counsel for Matters That Matter

Mr. McCann understands that clients frequently seek his advice at consequential moments—a significant real estate acquisition or sale, an investment opportunity, a land use or development issue, a business decision, or another matter where the outcome is important personally or financially.

His role is not simply to explain the law.

It is to understand what the client is trying to accomplish, identify risk, provide candid advice, develop practical solutions, and help move the matter forward.

Mr. McCann places particular importance on responsiveness, discretion, preparation, and personal attention. Clients work directly with an attorney who understands their matter and appreciates the significance of the decisions they are making.

Teaching & Professional Education

Mr. McCann served as an Adjunct Professor at Saint Joseph's University, where he created and taught a course in Law and Economics.

He has also been invited to speak before Realtor Associations, real estate schools, title insurance seminars, and legal education forums, sharing his experience in real estate and related legal matters with other professionals.

Commitment Beyond the Practice of Law

The discipline and perseverance that define Mr. McCann's professional life extend well beyond his law practice.

A former collegiate rower and accomplished marathon runner, Mr. McCann is a member of the Seven Continents Club, having completed marathons on all seven continents while supporting charitable causes.

He also participated in Rock the Boat for Autism, completing a 1,500-mile expedition from Boca Raton, Florida, to Sea Isle City, New Jersey, to raise awareness and funds for autism.

For Mr. McCann, these endeavors reflect the same values that have guided his professional career: commitment, endurance, preparation, and service to others.

A Practice Built on Trust

From his early years serving his hometown of Sea Isle City to his leadership in the Cape May County legal community, Mr. McCann has built his career and practice around relationships that endure.

Integrity. Preparation. Judgment. Responsiveness. Service.

Those principles remain at the center of every client relationship.
